Expert / AI
This is the class for developers ready to work with the tools shaping what’s next.
We’ll build on your scripting and structural skills with advanced reporting, integration patterns, and system-wide JSON practices. You’ll learn to bring AI into your FileMaker systems in real, usable ways — from semantic search to content generation to intelligent automation.
It’s not abstract theory. It’s the next level of practical development: connected, intelligent, and ready for what your users actually need.
What you'll learn
Day 1
Semantic Search: Finding Meaning in Text
Introduces natural-language search by meaning, not just keywords. Builds understanding of contextual querying and AI-enhanced interfaces. A perfect entry to AI and some great use cases.

Security and Access Control Essentials
Covers encryption, user roles, authentication methods, and least-privilege models. Practical and foundational for real-world deployments."
Day 2
Semantic Search for Images
Teaches how to make images searchable based on visual content. Great for inventory, asset libraries, or UX-heavy systems.
Advanced Reporting with Native FileMaker Tools
Covers subsummary reports, virtual lists, filtered portals, and other high-performance native reporting techniques. No AI involved... but that class is coming on day 5.
Day 3
Generative AI: Summarizing Content
Uses AI to compress large blocks of user-generated or system data into actionable summaries. Ideal for notes, audits, or dashboards.

APIs, External Services, and JSON
Introduces REST APIs, Insert from URL, JSON encoding/decoding, and basic authentication. Builds the foundation for external integration."

Day 4
Web Viewer & JavaScript: Visual Integration
Explores Google Charts and basic JS integration inside the Web Viewer. Ties layout, logic, and data into interactive visuals.
Modular Scripting
Shows how to build consistent, maintainable scripts using parameter conventions, logging, and error trapping for larger systems.
Day 5
Generative AI: Creating content from Prompts
Demonstrates how AI can create labels, content, and draft responses based on user inputs and semantic context. Great for workflow tools.

Multimodal AI: The Sum is Greater Than the Parts
Wrap-up session exploring how combining text, image, and logic-based AI tools can produce smarter, more cohesive systems.
